Week 7 results posted

June 10th, 2007 · No Comments

Sorry for the late blog post this week, but the Week 7 results have finally been posted to the stats page, click here to see all the current point standings.

Congrats to MarkM for his 1st place finish, and to Mike Jacobs for his runner-up finish and survival story! Mike had 1 big blind left at one point, and doubled up a few times to stay alive and actually build up a very nice chip stack, which took him nearly all the way.

Overall this week was a tremendous turnout — we had a packed house with 56 players, which was every seat we have to offer! So I do thank everyone for showing up, and hope that the numbers continue to stay solid or even grow as the weeks go on. I wanted to bring up a few key points about our weekly game, specifically for all those new players that might not be familiar with everything we offer.

  • Each week we offer a $75 cash prize to the players - $50 going to the winner, and $25 going to the runner-up.
  • The top 10 players each week receive points. The points round lasts for 10 weeks total, and we give out a combined cash prize of $500 to the top 3 points leaders. You can check the point standings at this link.
  • Aside from placing in the points in the weekly tournament, you can accumulate points in a two other ways: by winning or placing 2nd in a sit-and-go (side game) and by brining new players (you need to bring 2 new players for the week and you will receive 2 points).

Those are most of the key points new players should know. Any questions, please feel free to email me at kevin@mollymaguires.net

That’s all for today’s posting, I hope to see everyone at Mollys this Wednesday night!

Week 6 results posted + back to back wins!

May 31st, 2007 · No Comments

Week 6 results have been posted to the stats page, click here to see the current point standings. This was landmark week for the game, as we had our first back-to-back winner. SamG took down the win two weeks in a row, which is a first for us! This marks Sam’s 3rd first place finish, which is also a first — so a big congrats goes out to Sam, and to SteveK for a very strong runner up finish!

Another interesting story of the night was Pat Judge, who arrived an hour and a half late to the game. His stack got blinded down to 4500 chips, and the blinds were already at 1000/2000 by the time he sat down. He chipped his way back to stay in the game, and actually finished in 6th place overall! Just goes to show that you don’t need to play every pot to go deep in tournaments!

Week 5 results posted

May 26th, 2007 · No Comments

Week 5 results have been posted to the stats page. Congrats to SamG for his 1st place finish and very impressive come from behind victory. At the final table Sam was the short stack initially, but pocket 8’s turned into quad 8’s for him and gave him the chip stack he needed to win.

It’s a short and sweet post today - off to do some holiday weekend festivities :) Hope to see everyone this coming Wednesday at Mollys!

Big turnout + Week 4 results posted

May 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Hey Everybody,

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for last night. We had our biggest turnout yet, with 54 players - which is 2 players away from max capacity! Actually, if it really came down to it we could squeeze in an 8th table and bump the max capacity up to 64 players, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it :)

Congrats to Pat Judge for his 1st place finish last night, and also to JohnMik for his runner-up finish. It was a crazy final hand with pocket pair against pocket pair. John had 66, and Pat had 77. John turned a 6 to make a set and take the lead, and then Pat caught runner-runner to river a straight - crazy stuff! All the results from last night’s game have been posted to the stats page, so click here to see all the current point standings.

10th week this Wednesday…

April 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

Hey everybody,

Yes I know…. my last post on this blog was with 4 weeks to go, and here I am posting that tomorrow is the 10th and final week. Well, I’ve been a little busy playing some poker of my own and have let the blog posts slide, but I hope to get back to some regular postings on the next round of points.

Shortly I will be uploading the current points to the website so everybody can see the exact point standings. As of right now two players are nearly tied (only one point separates them), so this last week is going to be quite exciting to see how it plays out.

More on this to come shortly….

6 weeks down… 4 to go!

March 11th, 2007 · No Comments

Hey everybody,

Sorry for the lack of updates on this blog page, I’ve just been busy with other things and let the updates slide. In recent news, ChrisK took 1st place two weeks ago becoming our second female winner! And last week Paul Kolis took the first place spot winning the cash and the 10 points.

Speaking of points, the points race is really heating up now. We just passed the halfway point, and are now going into the 7th week out of 10. To see a full breakdown of all the points, click this link.

Not much else to report this week other than our game is on at its regular time - this Wednesday at 7:30. And as always, your patronage during the game is greatly appreciated (meaning… buy some food and drinks, hint hint!) :)

See you all this Wednesday…

Tomorrow is week 5!

February 27th, 2007 · No Comments

Hey everyone,

Just a quick post letting everyone know that tomorrow our regular Wednesday night game is on as scheduled, and that we will be entering Week 5 of our current round of points. Here’s a brief rundown of how the top 5 points leaders are looking right now:

Top 5 points leaders as of 02/27/07
Mike Jacobs 25
BenG 14
MarkM 12
Dennis Buza 11
ChrisK 10

You can see a full breakdown of ALL players points and finishes by clicking the link on the right column of this page labeled “Molly’s Poker League Page”, or just click here.

Not too much else to report for this week’s news, however I did want to briefly mention that there is a World Series of Poker circuit event going on in Atlantic City next week.  Aside from the big buy-in main event, they run several smaller events early in the week - I’m entering Event #1, which is a $300 buy-in tournament.  The prize pools on these smaller events get big, last time the WSOP was in AC the grand prize on the $300 event was over $65,000!  For anybody that’s interested, here’s the link.
